Candy
Candy is a 8 year old tri girl she is very low heartworm positive and only requires heartguard as treatment for this condition. She is a tad food aggressive which comes from having lived as a breeding dog all her life. She has cataract in one eye caused by a previous trauma. Vet Opthamologist says nothing is needed at this time to repair that. Candy was rescued from Alabama from a breeder who was going to shoot all of his former breeding dogs. Super loving little lady who needs a home. No tiny children please. This girl is available for $100 transport donation only to homes in the North. Quincy
Quincy is an 8 year old fellow, but you'd never know it. He needs a family with no small children or any contact with small children at all. You see Quincy lost his former home because of a adopted puppy so he has related that to children. He WILL bite them. Quincy may also snap at humans at really unpredictable times. Quincy has been in my rescue for 6 years and have never snapped at anyone here nor have I ever seen him snap at anyone, just going by what I have heard. Adopters need to be familiar with cockers. This guy is simply the sweetest most loving and playful fellow I know. I think the world revolves around him...he does too.

Hoover
Hoover earned his name on our way home from the shelter when he devoured everything and anything in my car. Alas, Hoover also has heartworms and needs treatment. PT
PT has the strangest story of any of the dogs we currently have. Imagine this, I am coming back from Home Depot early on a Saturday morning. Driving my suv with Carolina Cockers all over it and wearing my Carolina Cockers t shirt. When I see a small traffic jam ahead. We stop the car and realize that a matted, mangy cocker is in the middle of the road. I get out and chase him to the side so that cars can pass. A lady in a nearby house pops out and says that is her neighbors dog. So we take the dog and go there. I beg the man to let me take the dog, PT to my house to groom him, give him some shots and tend to him. That was ok so I did. I gave the man my card when I took him back. A month later the man calls me and asks me if I can keep the dog for him for two months until he gets his "life together." Well, apparently that hasn't happened and PT is now ours to find a home for. This dog is SO unbelievably wonderful. So perfect. I adore him. He is 9 years old, LOVES to play fetch, loves to watch tv and loves to be loved. He is somewhat of an escape artist and he will snap at strangers. He tends to get ear infections so his ears have to be cleaned regularly. PT is just a fantastic little man and would be great with a family with no small kids and no tiny dogs. NOTE: We will continue to accept applications on every dog until one application is approved, contract signed and faxed and full donation is made via our website. This is only to ensure that all our dogs have fantastic homes secured.

Samson
Better photos of Samson on www.carolinacockers.com I affectionately call Samson my little piece of luggage because he has been here in rescue for 5 years now. He is now 6. Samson can get a bit aggressive and needs to have a home of alpha family members only. In that situation he is fantastic. He loves to play fetch and will chase anything, he actually likes to have his hair cut and he is really a loving guy. He is food aggressive though so other dogs only if you are going to feed them apart from one another.

Bailey 2
Bailey is an incredible man to find in rescue. He is probably, without a doubt the most well trained cocker I have ever seen. He listens to exactly what you tell him and will always come when you call him, he will sit, lay down and do all kinds of fun things. He likes to play fetch as well, for the most part he is fairly active but when it's his down time he is a giant lump on your floor. He will not jump on the furniture unless invited. Bailey is aggressive towards groomers and anyone messing with his hair, so you have to have a professional do those things unless you are a dog trainer. He will bite anyone who messes with his hair. Hence, no kids please, even though he seems to do well with older children. He is 4 years old, buff and white, rather large for a cocker, will probably hunt and track on command and truly is a sweetheart. Oddly enough, he is not an alpha male and loves other dogs. I really believe he was a trained hunting dog.

Lizzie
Truly a sweet girl but has many problems derived from being neglected and abused for many years. Lizzy LOVES kids but adults she is not particularly fond of. After she learns to love you there are no problems but she is known to bite strangers who try to touch her. EXPERIENCED COCKER OWNERS ONLY NEED APPLY. Lizzie runs a huge risk of spending her entire life in rescue due to previous abuse and neglect. Personally I think anyone who does this to a dog should be shot. It takes a long time for Lizzie to trust any adult, Until then you can't put a leash on her without running the risk of being bitten, you can't pick her up. Once you do though, she is super easily groomed, brushed and tended to. It's so odd really, as soon as you do pick her up she is totally fine and loves the attention and love. ANY other rescue group would have had her put down long before now but we have a great deal of faith in Lizzie and have placed dogs like her before in the right homes where they have lived wonderful, long lives. I just pray that the right home comes along before she is too old to enjoy a new life. After being here over a year she is now fairly chunky and truly needs a diet, but don't we all.... Am anxious to get applications from experienced cocker spaniel owners who would be willing to provide a loving home for Lizzie for the rest of her life. She is about 5 years old and as you can see in her photos she is quite beautiful.

Calypso
Dropped off at the shelter in Camden, SC. She was pregnant, and shortly after being dropped off gave birth to a litter of 5 puppies. She and 3 of her puppies were brought into our rescue in an effort to find them all permanent homes. Caly is a pure bred beagle, most likely a hunting girl considering where she came from. My guess is that she was kept with a large number of hunting dogs and never actually in a home. Caly is truly a sweet girl, she is a lady who could be in any home and get along great. Not a bouncy, howling beagle this girl is quiet and calm. She LOVES other dogs and loves to play.

Baxter
Baxter is in our rescue for the 2nd time. If we could find the people who adopted him from us they could be sure they'd never adopt another dog in their lives. Baxter is microchipped which is how he found his way home to us. We shudder to think what would have happened to him if we did not chip him. He was reclaimed at the Beaufort, SC animal shelter by us. Baxter is a great fellow, great with all humans, other dogs and cats, he just has a skin problem and needs medicated baths. He is currently on medication for this and his eye issue and all of that will come around nicely. Baxter is about 7 according to our records. We originally rescued him when he was 2. He is a rare chocolate cocker and a tad overweight at this time. More to love right?!!!

Tater
Tater is truly an unknown breed, this is the closest match I can find. He is extremely loving and appears to be housebroken. His issue is that he is afraid of men and he will bite them (although not seriously) if approached by a strange man. He loves women though and is quite the couch potato and love bug. He is extremely playful and LOVES other dogs. He will play non stop all day long in the yard if you let him. He is a killer of stuffed toys though and loves to create the snow effect from the filling inside them. He will fetch and sit and truly is eager to have someone teach him more tricks. Apply now as Tater is a wonderful young man of 2 and only needs the right home. Older kids would be GREAT to play with him, highly active families need only give him time to adjust. The immediate warm up time may take a few weeks but once he is comfortable you will see the Taterbug we have learned to love here. He is not to be pressed during that original first few weeks but bribed with food and toys. That will win you his love and forever trust.

Frederick
OUTRAGEOUSLY GORGEOUS COCKER BOY! This guy is just stunning! Between one and two years old this guy was left at a high kill shelter in Sc with no chance of adoption. He was matted beyond belief so the shelter had him groomed. I've had him in my cocker rescue for about 6 months and fully evaluated him. No small children but all other homes will be considered. He is somewhat aggressive with one particular dog that we have here that is not a cocker, with other cockers he is fine. A bit food aggressive so new homes will want to feed him separately at first until he gets used to eating next to another dog. Fred is a jolly little dog, very playful and his eyes just seem filled with laughter all the time. He is eager to please, eager to play and typical of his breed in every way. Great with ALL people and older children. This is a perfect example of the cocker breed who has just fallen on hard times. Personally I adore Fred, he is always so happy! Disney
This girl is part of a bonded pair, her mate is Walt. When I first saw them at the shelter I thought I was seeing things, momentary hallucination or something. They were at SC's "Forgotten Shelter" so had no prayer of being adopted or anything else. The Animal Control officer took pity on me, I guess he saw me playing with them so they were saved on last months euthanasia day. This month though their time was way past up so he called me at 4:45pm on Tues and told me they had till 6am to be saved. Thanks to one of our great former adopters I was able to rush to Tractor Supply and buy a 10x10 kennel for them. I got a friend to go pick them up and help me get them here. WHEW!!!! That was toooo close. So they are here in our rescue, the problem is that we normally only handle small breeds in our rescue. They are having to stay in their pen all day long and only run after 8pm when all of the other dogs are in bed. Its not that they don't get along with other dogs because they DO but they are large and if they step on a maltese or puppy well that could be bad. These two are gentle as the day is long, they are super sweet and obviously well bred. The female is probably pregnant by now as she was in heat at the shelter so we have to rush her to the clinic next week and have that fixed. Will go ahead and alter both, get their shots, etc but need an adopter or rescue to step up for them as we really can't keep them here long. It's not fair to them or to our other rescues. If you can help Walt and Disney by adopting them, finding a pure bred rescue to take them or donating for our rescue of them then please let us know. Apply via our website to adopt! Gulliver
Gulliver was brought to our rescue by his previous owner because her home was being foreclosed on and she had to move in with relatives who didn't want the dog in their home. He is just over a year old and is the typical Jack Russell, type 'A' personality. He is very outgoing and friendly and gets along with everybody. Gully's convinced that everyone should love him 'cause he loves everyone. I don't believe he's ever met anyone he didn't like. He is very playful and loyal and loves to be with his person. Gully is great with other dogs and even gets along okay with cats. They're a curiosity, not a challenge. Gulliver will make a wonderful companion for any home.

Candy
Our darling, little Candy was adopted from our rescue 7 months ago when she was just 10 weeks old. A few days ago we received a call from the microchip company that someone had found her running loose in the city without even a collar on. Thank goodness she was microchipped and they were able to contact us. We went directly to pick her up and, after trying for several days, have been unable to contact her previous owners. Their phones are disconnected and they didn't even care enough about Candy to leave her Rabies tag or ID tag on her. They never even changed the microchip information into their names. So, now we have Candy here, we've checked her over and got a replacement Rabies tag for her and we're looking for a new, much more responsible and loving home for her. Candy is a little shy, we don't know what she may have been through, and she stays close to the person she trusts. She will need a home where someone can be with her most of the time. She gets along great with the other dogs and really wants to play with the cats. She likes kids and loves to play and she's a great snuggler.

Venus
Venus was dumped here at the rescue when no one was home and we didn't find her until the next day. She was cold and hungry and scared and didn't trust anyone for the first few days she was here. Venus has grown up here at the rescue and has been very well-socialized. She is a very friendly, happy and playful girl that just wants to play. She loves attention and petting and loves to play with toys and stuffed animals. Venus gets along with all the other dogs here and is even happy around the cats. She is 6 months old and is already spayed and microchipped. She is going to make a wonderful companion for some lucky family.

Peppermint
Peppermint appears to be a long haired chihuahua papillon mix. Pepper is 3-4 years old and was turned in to a SC high kill shelter because his owner had personal problems. He is an amazing little fellow, quite the gentleman and gets along fine with other dogs. The papillon breed is well known for having a tendency to be possessive of his owner, although they look like lap dogs they are easily trained in agility and obedience. Pepper is a total sweetheart and extremely loving and friendly. He just needs the right home to hold him in their laps. This is the kind of boy you can take anywhere and everywhere. He is somewhat housebroken, leash and crate trained and weighs about 9lbs fully grown. Again a rare situation to find a dog like this in rescue so please apply now. Trinket is a 15 week old terrier mix. We do not expect for her to ever weigh more than 10lbs. Divot
Divot and Diva are two twin long haired chihuahuas who somehow found themselves homeless in SC. Lovely little creatures with hearts of gold. A little shy at first but eager to be held and loved. They do well together and we believe that they are littermates. We will separate them but I have to tell you that in this case they do keep each other occupied and are quite flashy together so please consider the pair. Both about a year old they still have lots to learn and lots of love to give to some lucky family. They are little angels who just need a second chance in life. Tessa
Tessa is a 5-7 month old toy fox terrier. I confess that I have a new great love for this breed and may add TFT's to my personal rescue list along with my cockerbabies! I would have NEVER in my wildest dreams thought that I would fall for a breed like this, but until you know one you would never guess how wonderful they really are! So when I saw this girl in a high kill shelter I knew I would save her. She did have a brother with her who is tan which indicates a light mix in breeding. Princess does not indicate that she is anything other than TFT. She is quite clingy but when you set her down (if you dare) she will run like the wind and play and play. Constantly happy, constantly loving and the most precious little creature you will ever welcome into your home. Expect her to sleep in your bed, sleep in your lap or wherever she can find the tiny space she needs to be next to you. Her eyes tell you that she adores you every moment. Apply now as Tessa will go to her new forever home soon. She attempts to be alpha with other dogs, this is a grand gesture on her part and only comes from being in a rescue group with dogs larger than herself. It lasts about 5 minutes and then she decides to find something else to do. She is completely delightful, playful and most moments of my day I can hear the sound of squeeky toys sounding off in my media room. She will shred paper for some reason so watch your toilet tissue rolls, She is such a puppy....heheehahhahaa... .

YIKES A WEIM IN RESCUE!!! I can't stand it, this is the second pair I've rescued. These dogs are so graceful and when they run and play it is one of the most beautiful things I've seen. Goofy dogs and at this point Alexis and Avery seem all legs! Alexis and Avery were found as strays in Camden, SC. We took them in on 8/28/2010 as their time was up and they were to be euthanized. Both are extremely sweet and loving. Alexis has a very outgoing personality, and loves to play with people and other dogs. She is beautiful and just needs a home of her own. Avery
Alexis and Avery are 5 month old Weim chocolate lab mixes. I truly think some fool bred them on purpose this way, common for the area they were found. What is odd is that according to their shelter paperwork they were found in two different counties, but when you look at it you realize that the county separates on this exact street. So one was on one side of the street and the other on the other side of the same street, yet in two different towns. Right now they are all legs and goofiness. Stunning examples of both breeds. Alexis and Avery were found as strays in Camden, SC. We took them in on 8/28/2010 as their time was up and they were to be euthanized. Both are extremely sweet and loving. Avery is shy, but very loving, and just needs a home of his own. He came in very thin, so fattening him up will be the first priority. We believe that he is about 5 months old.

Colt
Colt was listed as an american bulldog / shepherd mix at the shelter in Camden, SC. Colt is approximately 6 weeks old as of 8/28/2010. He and his litter mates were found abandoned, and brought to the shelter. Colt also has a deformed right front paw. He still uses it, but he only has 3 toes instead of 4. Colt does not care that he is not 100% perfect, and has lots of love and energy to give to the right family. However, his deformity nearly cost him his life in the shelter. Now he is playing with his brothers and sisters in my media room waiting on the family to accept him as he is.

Although not related, she loves to play with the other puppies. She is outgoing, sweet, and just wants a home of her own. This little girl loves attention, and is looking for a family that will spend quality time with her!

Abbott
Abbott and his brother Costello were found as strays in Camden, SC. We pulled them as they were scheduled for euthanasia. Abbott is a little more reserved than his brother, but he quickly comes out of his shell. He is extremely sweet and playful. This little guy will make a wonderful companion for the right family.
