Candy
Candy is a 7 year old tri girl she is very low heartworm positive and only requires heartguard as treatment for this condition. She is a tad food aggressive which comes from having lived as a breeding dog all her life. She has cataract in one eye caused by a previous trauma. Vet Opthamologist says nothing is needed at this time to repair that. Super loving little lady who needs a home. No tiny children please. Contact info@carolinacockers.com for more information. NOTE: We will continue to accept applications on every dog until one application is approved, contract signed and faxed and full donation is made via our website. This is only to ensure that all our dogs have fantastic homes secured. PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION ON OUR HOME PAGE AS IT IS CRUCIAL IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING THIS PET!

Quincy
Quincy is an 8 year old fellow, but you'd never know it. He needs a family with no small children or any contact with small children at all. You see Quincy lost his former home because of a adopted puppy so he has related that to children. He WILL bite them. Quincy may also snap at humans at really unpredictable times. Quincy has been in my rescue for 6 years and have never snapped at anyone here nor have I ever seen him snap at anyone, just going by what I have heard. Adopters need to be familiar with cockers. This guy is simply the sweetest most loving and playful fellow I know. I think the world revolves around him...he does too.

Hoover earned his name on our way home from the shelter when he devoured everything and anything in my car. Alas, Hoover also has heartworms and needs treatment. Please go to www.carolinacockers.com and donate towards his care so that we can treat him and find him a loving home for once in his life. He is so sweet and really deserves it. Update. Hoover got a reprimand yesterday for getting into the trash can...I think his trash can days may be over, he was devastated. Poor guy....

Prince
Prince is a 5 year old fellow who is almost totally blind. We have a vet opthamologist in NJ who can do wonders and can pass along that name. Prince has juvenile cataracts. Super loving fellow with a strange underbite that makes him quite goofy. No small kids please as Prince gets a bit touchy with people rushing up to him. He's fine with other dogs if they aren't trying to beat him up. LOVES to sleep in the bed and get belly rubs! NOTE: We will continue to accept applications on every dog until one application is approved, contract signed and faxed and full donation is made via our website. PT
PT has the strangest story of any of the dogs we currently have. Imagine this, I am coming back from Home Depot early on a Saturday morning. Driving my suv with Carolina Cockers all over it and wearing my Carolina Cockers t shirt. When I see a small traffic jam ahead. We stop the car and realize that a matted, mangy cocker is in the middle of the road. I get out and chase him to the side so that cars can pass. A lady in a nearby house pops out and says that is her neighbors dog. So we take the dog and go there. I beg the man to let me take the dog, PT to my house to groom him, give him some shots and tend to him. That was ok so I did. I gave the man my card when I took him back. A month later the man calls me and asks me if I can keep the dog for him for two months until he gets his "life together." Well, apparently that hasn't happened and PT is now ours to find a home for. This dog is SO unbelievably wonderful. So perfect. I adore him. He is 9 years old, LOVES to play fetch, loves to watch tv and loves to be loved. He is somewhat of an escape artist and he will snap at strangers. He tends to get ear infections so his ears have to be cleaned regularly. PT is just a fantastic little man and would be great with a family with no small kids and no tiny dogs. NOTE: We will continue to accept applications on every dog until one application is approved, contract signed and faxed and full donation is made via our website. This is only to ensure that all our dogs have fantastic homes secured.

Samson
Better photos of Samson on www.carolinacockers.com I affectionately call Samson my little piece of luggage because he has been here in rescue for 5 years now. He is now 6. Samson can get a bit aggressive and needs to have a home of alpha family members only. In that situation he is fantastic. He loves to play fetch and will chase anything, he actually likes to have his hair cut and he is really a loving guy. He is food aggressive though so other dogs only if you are going to feed them apart from one another.

Bailey
Watch out Bailey is looking for a home! BayBay as he is known here in rescue is a whopping 46lbs and looking for a giant man sized home. He LOVES fishing, hunting, taking long walks through the country...this is a mans man. NO sissy dog clothes, no soap operas please. Hunk of a cocker looking for serious family to take long hikes, not get in his face and play fetch. SSSSSHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Bailey 2
Bailey is an incredible man to find in rescue. He is probably, without a doubt the most well trained cocker I have ever seen. He listens to exactly what you tell him and will always come when you call him, he will sit, lay down and do all kinds of fun things. He likes to play fetch as well, for the most part he is fairly active but when it's his down time he is a giant lump on your floor. He will not jump on the furniture unless invited. Bailey is aggressive towards groomers and anyone messing with his hair, so you have to have a professional do those things unless you are a dog trainer. He will bite anyone who messes with his hair. Hence, no kids please, even though he seems to do well with older children. He is 4 years old, buff and white, rather large for a cocker, will probably hunt and track on command and truly is a sweetheart. Oddly enough, he is not an alpha male and loves other dogs. I really believe he was a trained hunting dog.

Captain Jack
Captain Jack, thus named because he has a receding eye, has several medical issues that are being tended to. His teeth are worn down and in need of surgery, his eye probably needs to be removed and he has heartworms. In SC our vet estimates around $$250 for ALL of this work to be done. Not many rescues would give Jack this chance in life but once you get to know him you would make the same decision we have. We want to raise money to get this work done because we have total faith that whoever meets Jack will fall in love with him. He is just the sweetest little man. He was found at a dump in SC with his girlfriend, Savannah the doxie. Savannah has been adopted so now we just have to help Jack. If you would like to donate to help us help Jack please go to www.csrw.org and make a general donation. Write Jack in the notes section. If you would like to put your name on the list to adopt Jack once all this work is done apply now. He's a GREAT tiny little man and will give your life so much happiness. Jack only weighs 16lbs and is what we lovingly call pure bred poorly bred here in rescue. It was most likely an accident or physical abuse that caused his eye and dental problems. This guy needs a chance in life, please help us help him! BTW, I challenge you to find a human or fur person Jack doesn't love, he loves everyone!

Clifford
No one wants me now that my previous owner ran over me not once but twice with his car. I lost one eye when he ran over me the first time, I lost my other eye the second time. Now no one wants to offer me a home simply because I am blind. I HAVE both eyes they just look weird now and I am rather grumpy when I bump into other dogs who really should look out for me. I want my own bed and special chew toys and thats all. I have been in rescue now for 4 years and am getting too old now which makes my chances for adoption rather slim. No I am no longer on death row at a shelter, but I would like to have a home again of my own. I would like a family, children playing with me and other dogs to keep me company. I learn my way around really well....

Last one chosen for everything? have you ever been in that position? Susie has, over and over again for 7 yrs now in pure bred cocker rescue. 2600 Pure bred cockers have come and gone, she has watched them all find homes, she has gotten older and more blind watching them all go to forever homes. She has learned food aggression and rather poor housebreaking manners in the process. Its time for Susie to have a home don't you think? She is way too sweet and loving, she loves a bath and a haircut, she WANTS to be pampered. She deserves it finally. Chose Susie FIRST for once in her life.

Calyspo
Dropped off at the shelter in Camden, SC. She was pregnant, and shortly after being dropped off gave birth to a litter of 5 puppies. She and 3 of her puppies were brought into our rescue in an effort to find them all permanent homes. Caly is a pure bred beagle, most likely a hunting girl considering where she came from. My guess is that she was kept with a large number of hunting dogs and never actually in a home. She is extremely shy but is always interested in her puppies and how they are doing. Caly is truly a sweet girl, she is a lady who could be in any home and get along great. Not a bouncy, howling beagle this girl is quiet and calm. She LOVES other dogs and loves to play.

Charles
Charles and his sister Diana were on the euthanasia list at a small country shelter in SC. With a plea from rescuers they were taken to the Greenville, SC shelter where they had a chance. We rescued them both yesterday from Greenville and brought them home. They are lovely little folks with hearts of pure gold. A little shy at first but they love other dogs and love playing. Even in a new situation they will come to you and let you pick them right up! Wonderful little fur people, please give them a new home!

Diana
Diana, is a 7 month old Shiba Inu/Cardigan Welsh Corgi mix. She is absolutely precious and has the prettiest smile of any girl we know. Her eyes literally lit up like a Christmas Tree when we arrived home with her from the kill shelter and she saw that she was no longer waiting to die. Instead she could run and play and well play. That is what Diana likes to do best, play! She is a little rough on the smaller dogs and when they retaliate she gets upset. They dont understand that she only wants to play with them! Since that day a few weeks ago Diana has smiled every moment. She is a happy girl. Unfortunately she hasnt had an awful lot of experience with humans and is a tad shy at first. She is practicing walking on her leash now and with the right treats she will become your friend quickly. So we are looking for a home for Diana with no dogs smaller than she is, no tiny children and time to spend showing this young lady what love is all about.

Madden is a sweet girl, she loves to wear little t shirts and be a frilly girl. She hates to go to bed at night, she wants to be up and playing with her siblings!

Copper
Pure Bred cocker spaniel is a owner turn in from Myrtle Beach, SC. Copper is housebroken, very sweet and playful. Needs a forever home of his own. Yeah Copper was an owner surrender, the lady said he was snapping at her small children. I can see that as this was one of the most irritating owner surrenders I have had in 12 years. Many thanks to Caper's Mom Jen for transporting this boy home to us. He is finally somewhere that people understand him! Whew...he is not one bit sad to be here either. Copper is a great boy with one cherry eye that will be repaired on Thursday. He is really sweet, quite loving and extremely well mannered and eager to do whatever you tell him to do. This is crucial here and makes our work so much easier so having Copper here is a pleasure. He turns 2 tomorrow per his CKC papers, I understand that he is cross registered and also has AKC papers. This IS his correct birthdate so lets party by giving Copper a new home for his 2nd birthday!!!!

Hunt
Hunt was involved in a criminal case here in SC. He was one of about 100 dogs held by a hoarder whose dogs were found to be neglected. He was so starved that his bones didn't fully develop but the only evidence now of that is a slight limp when he runs. Now he is at a great weight and runs, plays and is so sweet and loving. This little guy obviously had one of the hardest starts in life of any dog but he has overcome that with perfect southern gentleman manners. You would never know now that his life held such horrors. Giving this boy a home is truly saving a life, he is a mix and has not had much in his life in the way of training or love. It's his turn and he has earned a new life, if your family wants to be the one to love Hunt forever then please apply now. *** UPDATE *** Tragedy all around for this little guy! He was rescued from somewhere in SC by a hoarder. When the courts split up the dogs from the hoarder Hunt was sent to a kill shelter in Greenville, SC where he was slated to be put down because of some problem with his back legs. Well, my vet found several problems, first of all a skin infection on his hind legs, second a tooth that did now allow his mouth to fully close at all, third and most sad, Hunt was probably dragged at some point. My vet said she has seen this exact thing with puppies having been dragged behind kids bicycles or go carts.

Montgomery
Montgomery was found in the Camden shelter waiting on her euthanasia. She is very sweet, playful, and loving. Looking to find a "forever" home as soon as possible. Monte is a total angel, yesterday she was wearing a pink Princess t shirt and it was so obvious that she was quite impressed with herself. She was so mad when Remi tried to take it off of her! Ah sisters....Monte is a tiny girl, the smallest of the litter. We have no idea how big she will get but she appears to be full black lab only smaller. Her feet are not large either so she may stay smaller. Whatever, she is lovely, playful and so much fun!

Mrs. Beasley
Apricot, I wasn't given the choice for apricot but that is the official term for Mrs. Beasley I believe. She is one chubby little neglected girl too, she was abandoned at the Greenville shelter, the reason on the sheet was "unwanted." I can't imagine that as Mrs. Beasley obviously had someone who loved her at one time. She has quite obviously been table fed as she begs mercilessly at dinner time. I tell you, if a dog could talk Mrs. Beasley comes closest to it than any other dog I have seen. When she's thirsty if the water bowl is empty she drags it out to the middle of the floor. She mainly just wants to sit in your lap but she goes to the door when she wants to go out. Mrs. Beasley has a mammary tumor and is scheduled for surgery on Thursday where she will also be spayed. The mammary tumor is the only reason she wasn't placed as adoptable from the shelter. She also coughs because she is so overweight, we are working on that. She simply MUST loose weight! Adopters have to be careful with this as it is so bad for her. The shelter put her at 3 years old, I think closer to 5 but will know at our vet visit on Thursday. Mrs. Beasley is quite a little princess and deserves a new luxury home of her own. I can promise you that her adopters will be the luckiest people on earth! She is so wonderful and we are clearly smitten with her!

Abby is a 15 year old lady who was dropped off by her owner at a SC shelter. She was totally matted to the bone and had to be shaved. Baxter
Baxter is in our rescue for the 2nd time. If we could find the people who adopted him from us they could be sure they'd never adopt another dog in their lives. Baxter is microchipped which is how he found his way home to us. We shudder to think what would have happened to him if we did not chip him. He was reclaimed at the Beaufort, SC animal shelter by us. Baxter is a great fellow, great with all humans, other dogs and cats, he just has a skin problem and needs medicated baths. He is currently on medication for this and his eye issue and all of that will come around nicely. Baxter is about 7 according to our records. We originally rescued him when he was 2. He is a rare chocolate cocker and a tad overweight at this time. More to love right?!!!

Growlith
Yeah what is WITH that name? Who knows, this is a Springer/cocker mix boy who tends to look more like a springer when put in show coat. When I first saw him at the shelter I said he was a pure springer. I will rescue a springer when I am needed as they are much like my cocker kids. Anyhoo, he came in with that name and does answer to it. He is not fond of being told no and only wants to be inside being spoiled. Although we have no history on this dog he was an owner surrender to the shelter, we can tell you that he is solid gold. His heart is in the right place he just needs an alpha owner to keep him in line. He is only about 2 years old so still learning at a rapid pace. It is my experience that Springers and Cockers dont even mature to a level where you can expect to relax until they are 4. This guy will keep you moving with ball playing, tossing his toys and handing out treats. He is a GREAT dog, typical springer/cocker, docked tail, fully vetted as are all of our dogs and ready to find the right home. Springers dont come in here every day so if you are interested you should apply right this very moment.

Matt
Unusual cocker in solid black. This guy is good with everyone. That is hard to find in a solid black cocker. Matty is about 2-3 years old and was surrendered by his owner to the city pound. Well our vet saved his life and now he has a second chance. He is a stunning boy, had to be shaved down totally because of the Matts. His previous owner obviously could not afford grooming. Matt loves all people, other dogs he gets tired of after a while of playing but he goes to his crate for a nap when he gets tired. I personally just dont think you can make a better choice in a cocker than this guy. He LOVES to give kisses and play, he loves his toys and like most cockers can be persuaded to do just about anything if you have a snack! Apply now, this is one of the perfect cockers I talk about. Bottom line, we ARE cocker rescue and have been for 25 years, we know our cockers, when we say a cocker is perfect you need to put in your application because they are so abused and neglected here in the south and most do not come out of those situations unscathed. This one has!

Meiko
This is my little sweetheart is only 8 weeks old and looks part border collie, quite fluffy! Although Mountain Curs do come in her colors. She looks like a little furball! Her story is one of the greatest horrors I have seen with my own eyes. Her Mom was left in a shelter that is forced to kill 3 out of every 4 dogs that come in. Puppies rarely survive. Mom originally had 7 puppies, when we were there I noticed her and asked about her puppies. When we went in to take a look at the puppies, there were only 4 and a half. Yes a half. The mother was eating them. Her stress level was above what she could handle and that is what she was doing. That part of the shelter is very cold, always under about 3 inches of water and extremely noisy with large dogs barking. They were dry in their igloo but the stress was too much on Mom. The puppies were quite ill, one had pneumonia and we had to have her put down on the spot, the other 3 we got out. We went straight to our vet who gave them little chance. But we put them on meds, bottle fed them every 2 hours .and MAGICALLY they turned around. My vet says that these are miracle puppies!!!
Their Moms tail is docked or she was born with it short indicating that she is a pure bred mountain cur she weighs 35lbs. They are super sweet babies. Meiko is quiet until shes hungry then she will let you know or if she wants attention she is now quite used to having me at her beck and call. If your home needs a miracle, here she is! Final note, with our taking her babies, Mom was able to be altered and put on the adoption floor at the shelter where we hear she is doing very well. A little breed history lesson here, "Cur's" were the first American settlers dogs. By the 1950's only few yellow curs survived in the remote mountain ans swamp regions of South America. Recently breeders have formed organizations to revive the breed. Another tidbit, the dog in Old Yeller is portrayed in the movie as being a yellow lab, however in the book the dog is a Cur! Their country of origin is the United States making them our countries first true breed. Their weight range is 35-70lbs and height is 18-23 inches.
